About the Journal

OBJECTIVE OF THE JOURNAL

The journal Desarrollo, Economía y Sociedad (Desarrollo con. soc.) is an annual publication of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics of the Juan de Castellanos University Foundation. Its objective is to be the means of national and international dissemination of the advances and results of scientific research in the fields of Social Sciences and Economics of the different academic communities.

MISSION

To disseminate and socialize scientific research products, reflection and review, results of research and academic processes that allow the consolidation of new approaches, perspectives and methodologies from the Human and Social Sciences.

VISION

To be recognized nationally and internationally for its contributions to the new theories and approaches that have been consolidated in recent years from the Social Sciences, in order to consolidate an academic and research community from reflection and criticism.

 

EVALUATION AND PUBLICATION PROCESS

The Editorial Committee of the journal Desarrollo, Economía y Sociedad will consider the following aspects to accept or reject, in the first instance, the articles and reviews eligible for publication:

  • Only unpublished articles whose contributions are. Articles whose results have already been published will not be accepted.
  • The authors of articles must be professionals and researchers, preferably with postgraduate training or students in their last semesters of undergraduate studies. In the case of reviews, authors must be students and researchers (at least six semesters of the undergraduate program).
  • Submit a resume summary including: name, place of work, address, e-mail, telephone number, fax; professional status, line of research and publication of the last five years in books and journals; publications must include ISBN or ISSN (personal data will not be published). 
  • Delivery of a letter of presentation of the author(s) and his/her writing, specifying the originality of the text and its content. 

1. EVALUATION PROCESS

The editorial coordination of the journal Desarrollo, Economía y Sociedad will acknowledge receipt of the papers within twelve days from the date of receipt. The Editorial Committee of the journal may reject the publication of an article if it is determined that it does not meet academic and quality standards, or if it is found that an article submitted has already been published in part or in full.

The articles submitted will be sent to two experts on the subject so that they can independently give their opinion on the work, considering the following criteria: quality, academic level, originality, contribution to knowledge and teaching, clarity in presentation and writing, interest and topicality of the subject. The evaluators, by means of the form sent by the journal's coordination, issue their concept with the objective of accepting or rejecting the manuscript. 

2. CONFIDENTIALITY

The evaluation process of the journal will be carried out under the conditions of "double blind" arbitration. The journal reserves all data of authors and reviewers, and the details and results of the process will be revealed only to those directly involved (authors, reviewers and editorial board).  

3. EVALUATION TIMES

The coordination of the Journal will inform the authors of the date on which the arbitration process begins, between the start date and the reception of the evaluations, a period of four (4) months will elapse. However, this period may be longer or shorter depending on the availability of academic peers.  

4. CORRECTION OF ARTICLES

The coordination of the journal will inform the authors of the evaluation concepts by the academic peers, in this sense, the elements to be taken into account based on the type of response are listed below:

  1. Approved without corrections: the coordination of the journal will send to the author, by official communication, the acceptance of the article and will inform the procedure to follow for the publication process. 
  2. Approved with the commitment to make corrections: the coordination of the journal will send the author, through official communication, the suggestions and corrections made by the peer reviewers, the author will have fifteen (15) working days to improve the article and must resubmit it to start the publication process.
  3. Rejected: the journal Desarrollo, Economía y Sociedad is a means of dissemination that seeks to contribute to the consolidation of a scientific culture, therefore if an article is negatively evaluated, the author will be informed of the respective suggestions and corrections in order to publish it in a future issue; in this sense, he/she will have three (3) to six (6) months to restate it and send it again to begin the evaluation process. 

5. AUTHOR'S RIGHTS

The author is solely responsible, before the magazine and the reader, for the truthfulness and honesty of the content of his work. Therefore, it is recommended to always give the corresponding credits to the work of others. In case of intellectual plagiarism or damage of any kind, the journal Desarrollo, Economía y Sociedad will not assume any responsibility in this regard. In the event that any publication incurs in partial or total plagiarism, the author will be sanctioned according to the decision of the Editorial Committee.

  1. Copyright notice: Once the article complies with all the characteristics for publication, the coordination sends the author the copyright notice in order to transfer the rights to the journal Desarrollo, Economía y Sociedad. Likewise, in order to confirm that the article does not contain text whose publication violates copyright. The author must send it within a maximum of two (2) days to the official contact e-mail: revista.des@jdc.edu.co
  2. Privacy statement: The names and e-mail addresses entered in this publication will be used exclusively for the purposes stated by this journal, and will not be available for any other purpose or to any other person.
  3. The journal is open access. All contents unless otherwise noted are licensed under a Creative Commons license.

6. ETHICAL GUIDELINES

The journal Desarrollo, Economía y Sociedad adheres to the ethical provisions of the COPE (Committee On Publication Ethics) and the "Guide of good practices for journal editors", as well as the provisions of the Habeas Data-Statutory Law 1266 of 2008, for the handling of personal information in databases. The journal Desarrollo, Economía y Sociedad, in cases where required, may reject the proposal for publication of a manuscript when it detects any violation of the above provisions.
