PROPOSAL FOR COMMUNITY INTERVENTION FOR THE TREATMENT OF HISTORICAL FORMS OF MASCULINITIES IN A TOWN OF CUBA

Abstract

This article presents the main findings of a research which is the beginning of a community intervention project that contributes to the treatment of the historical forms of masculinities in professionals from a municipality of Cuba. It is understood by historical forms of masculinities the different ways to assume masculinities as they deploy in a traditional way or ideally possible. From a methodological point of view, it will focus its interests in qualitative methodology and within this the research action participation method. The procedure consists of several stages, in line with the proposals of the Center for Community Studies at the Central University “Marta Abreu” of Las Villas. Through space for group reflection they could state the main problems associated with gender and specifically the historical forms of masculinity from the perspective of the professionals who participated in the experience. The research helped to boost group growth that manifested itself in the participation and involvement of members to resolve their complaints. The research report is structured into two chapters; the first devoted to theoretical and methodological aspects about the historical forms of masculinity from the perspective of the community self-development methodology. In the second, the project of Community intervention with self-development approach for treating the historical forms of masculinities in professionals in a municipality of Cuba specifically in Manicaragua is proposed.
